Road Trip > Long Beach, WA > 2011

by Rainbow Bobbins

The last weekend of June was a fun one. I unintentionally crashed my neighbors’ backyard fire hot tub party. I’m an airhead sometimes but this ended up being a good move. In the morning I packed up and headed out to meet up with Heather, Lara, Elizabeth and Jim for camping, biking and beach time on Long Beach Peninsula in Washington. We camped at Cape Disappointment – lovely area with bike & hike trails, two light houses and Waikiki Beach – a great little swim spot with tons ‘o beach wood for shelter construction.

Wakiki Beach at Cape Disapointment on the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington

One of two light houses near the beach. This is a pretty hairy area for boats to navigate...where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean.

Wakiki Beach has tons o driftwood. Many structures at the ready.

On Saturday I spent a couple of hours playing the water and reading at Waikiki beach then headed to Long Beach to Marshes Free Museum to visit Jake.  I made it out toward Oysterville for some exploration. At camp there was some banjo and guitar and brie grilled apple toast and s’mores over the campfire.
