Road Trip > Astoria, OR
by Rainbow Bobbins
We headed to Astoria over the weekend for a little birthday action. It was cold, wet, windy and lovely. We had some beers at Ft. George, wandered around the water front, checked out the cool houses and the antique shops including the treasure trove Vintage Hardware. This is my first time not camping in the area on a visit. Instead we stayed at the Commodore Hotel which was great – the attached coffee shop has yummy breakfast as well. Astoria Oregon is such a special place – one of my favorites. Here is a link to our May 2012 visit to Astoria and below are pictures from this past weekend:
What are your favorite Astoria things to do? My recommendations: kick ass maritime museum, fish and chips from Bow Picker, Ft. George for beers, Commodore Cafe or Blue Scorcher for b-fast, go see the grounded ship, go throw a plane off a column, walk the neighborhoods – amazing homes, check out liberty theater, beach anyone?, nearby waterfalls, Let’s go bowling, community pool, cross the bridge to Washington – love me some Long Beach Washington, Goonies ground zero, antique shops, mural walk, smoked fish….I know there is tons more to explore..can’t wait to go back.
