Last Monday we headed northwestward to Bozeman, Montana via one night in Spokane and back again the following Sunday via Coeur D’Alene, ID. It was so great to visit with family — especially my nephew — our newest little nugget. It was a whirlwind trip but it was a great way to spend the 4th of July — in a beautiful state with beautiful family. Here are some highlights:

IMG_1277We had a great time hanging out with family on the fourth for Music on Main in downtown Bozeman and watching fireworks from the rooftop. Earlier that day me, CP, bro and dad rented a raft to float the Yellowstone River:

On Friday we headed to Hyalite Canyon and Palisades Falls in the Gallatin National Forest — Stunning and a 15 minute drive from Jon and Shani’s! CP and I might need a summer home here:

On the way home we passed the Testicle Festival Headquarters;  stopped in Butte MT (one of my favorite towns) and stayed the night in Couer D’Alene, ID where there were tons of good looking, really drunk blonde people. CP said it seemed the Jersey Shore of Idaho — is that the case? We were not around long enough to test that first impression. Lots of dudes in backwards hats and tank tops. We also covered some new ground and checked out the Columbia River in eastern Washington:

IMG_1317Good Times! Speaking of time — I wish we could have had more in MT… we will return again soon…hopefully it will include a stop a Glacier National Park.  Here are some highlights from our 2010 trip to Montana including a stop at the Lewis and Clark Caves. Happy summer travels!
