Hike > Catherine Creek, WA > West loop

To celebrate the first weekend of spring we headed east to the Washington side of the Gorge to hike the West Loop of the Catherine Creek Trail. This is an easy and super popular hike that has amazing views of the Columbia River. The first wave of spring blooms lined the trail:

And the view south west where you can see the tip of Mt. Hood:


There were many of these blooms along the path – This is a Grass Widow, part of the iris family. Oregon Wild has more info on this flower here


Here are some Grass Widows next to a stream overlooking the Columbia River in the background. I feel lucky to live in this part of the world!


Rounding out the trip we stopped off in Hood River for some of my favorite beer in Oregon, Double Mountain. They also happen to have really, really good pizza.
